Following his dream of inventing the best rum in the world, in 1929, a young Julián Barceló from Spain arrived in Santo Domingo and founded Barceló & Cia. He soon began to produce one of his first rums and sell it throughout the country. In 1980, the Barcelo Imperial was launched by one of Julián Barceló’s nephews.
The Barceló Imperial Rum was distilled from fermented molasses and represents a mixture of runs up to 6 years old, aged in used whiskey and bourbon barrels.
