The Blandy family is distinguished by being the only family, of all the original founders of the Madeira wine trade, that still owns and manages its own original wine company. Over the course of its long history on the island, the family has played a leading role in the development of Madeira wine. Its members continue to live in Madeira, thus maintaining a tradition that dates back to 1811 – Two centuries of production of a wine of excellence.
Aged over 5 years in American oak casks in the traditional ‘Canteiro‘. This includes a gentle heating of the wine in the loft of the lodges in Funchal.
Its winemaker Francisco Albuquerque suggests it as an aperitif and goes well with starters, fish dishes and Indian cuisine.
