The Blandy family is distinguished by being the only family, of all the original founders of the Madeira wine trade, that still owns and manages its own original wine company. Over the course of its long history on the island, the family has played a leading role in the development of Madeira wine. Its members continue to live in Madeira, thus maintaining a tradition that dates back to 1811 – Two centuries of production of a wine of excellence.
Blandy’s Alvada was aged in American oak casks for 5 years. He used the traditional system of “Canteiro”, which includes gentle heating in the wine cellars of the company’s warehouses in Funchal.
Attractive golden–brown color. On the nose has the classic bouquet of Madeira wines, nuts, caramel and hints of spice and wood. The palate is velvety, soft and full bodied, balanced acidity. A long finish with notes of honey.
It is a delicious accompaniment to desserts, especially fruit, cakes, chocolate and hard cheeses.
