Property of the Cândido da Silva family, Quinta da Carolina is located in the Douro demarcated region, sub-region of Cima Corgo, on the left bank of the Douro River, 4 km south of Pinhão.
The Quinta has a northern exposure and the old vines are all letter “A” with about 40 years old, consisting of the typical and traditional Douro varieties, Touriga Franca, Tinta Roriz, Touriga Nacional, Tinta Carvalha, Tinta Amarela, Tinto Cão, Sousão , Rufete, Tinta Melra, Malvasia Preta, Tinta Barroca, Tinta Francisca and Bastardo. Since the end of the 90’s by Jerry Luper, renowned Californian winemaker, and currently by winemaker Luís Pedro Pedro Cândido da Silva. Quinta da Carolina has a limited production, the Cândido da Silva family assumes itself as a producer of “vins de garage”, producing careful, sincere and top quality wines.
Old vineyard, consisting of mixed varieties, mainly Tinta Roriz, Touriga Franca, Tinta Barroca and Touriga Nacional, located in Tabuaço.
This red wine is vinified with foot treading in lagares and malolactic fermentation in stainless steel vats. Aging in second-year French oak barrels of 225 liters for 6 months.
