Between the magic of the Sintra mountains and the tranquility of the sea.
The santa maria couple’s wines are the result of the expression of nature and the unique terroir that surrounds the vineyards, which are located on the coastline of the Sintra Mountains.
The history of this Quinta dates back to the beginning of the 18th century. The main house was built in 1720 and surprisingly managed to survive the 1755 earthquake due to the granite structure of the Serra de Sintra. In the 19th century, the former owners of Casal produced wines, but consumption and historical events caused wine production to cease in 1903.
As a natural barrier, the Sintra mountain range extends the influence of the Atlantic Ocean, with the salty coastal fog as a frequent backdrop. The result is wines that remind us of the sea and the hills; very aromatic, mineral, refreshing acidity, elegant, balanced and the peculiarity of having abundant salty notes.
The authorship of the wines is entrusted to Jorge Rosa Santos and António Figueiredo.
