Great old school wines! It’s Frank John’s motto. The charismatic winemaker worked for many years as a consultant across Europe before acquiring the Hirschhorner Hof in the Palatinate in 2002. His area of expertise and his passion are biodynamic cultivation and working with traditional aging methods. The range is very simplified, with just one Riesling, one Riesling sparkling wine and one Pinot Noir. The wines combine elegance, structure and balance and thus perfectly reflect the winemaker Frank John. So it’s not surprising that the Eichelmann wine guide gave Frank John a maximum rating of 4 out of 5 stars.
As the name suggests, Frank John’s Buntsandstein Riesling grows exclusively in Buntsandstein. After a short period of maceration, the wine is spontaneously fermented in barrels, some with whole grapes, and aged on lees for 12 months. The wine is only taken from the yeast and bottled without filtering and without tuning.
A wine of organic/biological production.
If you are going to serve a soft cheese or white meat at home…this Riesling will be the ideal companion!
