It is impossible to talk about the M. Chapoutier company without referring to 1808, the year in which it all began. It was almost 210 years ago.
The appellation of Saint-Joseph stretches for some fifty kilometers on the right bank of the River Rhône, from Chavanay in the north to Guilherand-Granges near Valence in the south.
Granitic terrain created by wind and geological alteration resulting in restrictive soils with good drainage. Here we find the main soil and climate elements of the great Saint-Joseph wines. This slow maturation kinetic gives the “Granilites” wine great freshness, minerality and acidity potential.
This red wine from the Rhône is fermented in concrete vats. Maceration was carried out for 4 weeks, followed by malolactic fermentation in the cask. Maturing takes place in barrels for the first 12 months and is completed in concrete tanks for 6 months.
