Graham’s, one of the most renowned Port wine houses, owned by the Symington family, has just announced a new and innovative Ruby Port, Blend Nº12.
Predominantly created from the famous Touriga Nacional variety, the wine is specifically aimed at bars and non-traditional Port consumers. Blend Nº12 owes its name to the fact that the grapes used in its production – planted at higher elevations – are harvested by hand in the middle of the night to guarantee maximum freshness. After harvesting, these grapes are fermented in the cold, in order to preserve their primary aromas and intensity. Unlike most Ports in the Ruby category, Blend Nº12 is not oak aged, but is bottled young to maximize concentration and flavour.
The design of Blend Nº12 contains fruits that reflect the different flavors of the wine – raspberries, blackberries and strawberries –, as well as rock rose, the emblematic flower of the Douro. Bottles decorated with hand-drawn images by renowned Portuguese fashion illustrator António Soares.
