A project by Gouveia – Serra da Estrela with oenology by Paulo Nunes.
A concept for wines that happen. For unique conditions in unique years. by constant restlessness, a challenge to all norms. They could be called “collection wines”, but they are mostly wines to be found. And above all, discovered.
As the first brand created by Casa da Passarella, Villa Oliveira was originally born over 100 years ago. In order to pay a faithful tribute to their history, they decided to produce these extremely limited editions.
In a strictly limited edition of 2500 bottles, this wine expresses the desire to make a Touriga Nacional from old vines. In a region where the old vine is made up of a wide range of varieties mixed in the same plot, in 2009 they decided to harvest 3500 kg of Touriga Nacional from a single 80-year-old vine, which implied choosing the Touriga Nacional variety in the large group. of castes of that parcel. From this highly selective vintage, a classic Touriga Nacional is born, where the entire winemaking process was developed using exceptional raw material, not using any type of yeast, industrial enzymes or correction. Who brings him to the spotlight is the oenologist Paulo Nunes.
