It was at the end of the 19th century, more precisely in 1877, that Don Rafaél López de Heredia Y Landeta, then a student of enology, founded the Bodegas López de Heredia, starting the construction of what is still today the winery of this House.
His enormous passion for the land and for the vineyard, were the founding foundations of what would become the philosophy of the first winery in Haro and one of the first 3 wineries in all of Rioja.
It was his sense of respect for the land, the vineyards and the tradition that has been passed down from generation to generation to this day.
López de Heredia wines are therefore probably the last stronghold of pure traditionalism in Rioja and around the world. Its unique wines are the result of an extreme respect for the "Terroirs" that give rise to them and a wise patience in waiting for creation.
Tondonia, Bosconia and Gravonia wines are unique, unrepeatable wines, wines that reflect a place, a philosophy and above all a tradition. These are wines that are only marketed when they are at the perfect time of consumption, usually more than 10 years after the harvest. Here, there is no room for hustle or bustle.
It goes well with all prepared meat dishes. A perfect partner for a leg of lamb stuffed with wild garlic, rosemary and anchovies.
