Douro
It is the 17th edition of this wine that since 1960 has been affirmed as one of the great reds of the Douro.
“This is a classic, rich and complex wine that fully honors the exceptional quality parchments typical of a Special Reserve”, assures Luís Sottomayor, head of the Sogrape Vinhos oenology team in the Douro region, for whom “it is always a decision of great responsibility, with a high emotional charge, to declare a vintage of a wine so rare and so eagerly awaited, capable of reflecting the charisma and remarkable maturity only available to some Douro wines”.
Vinified in the special winery of Quinta da Leda – Luís Sottomayor's favorite refuge –, this Casa Ferreirinha Reserva Especial has a deep ruby color and an aroma of excellent intensity and complexity. The aromatic notes reveal red and black fruits, resin, cedar and tobacco box. Slightly floral and stony, it shows good wood and very well integrated. In the mouth, it has an explosive attack with present tannins and well-integrated acidity, feeling the presence of red and black fruits, pepper and light cocoa, the result of a good maturation. The finish is long and of great elegance.
