Série Ímpar is the result of a challenge given to Sogrape Vinhos' Oenology team to create original, special and unique wines that stand out among all the others we produce every year. Differentiation can originate from a creation linked to viticulture and/or winemaking or just in the varieties used or in the origin of the grapes, which in the end result in one or more unique wines, which will be selected by the entire oenology team, under the leadership of the respective administrator, without any interference from other areas of the company. Every year the wines may (or may not) be made by a different winemaker, from any region or grape variety, with the guarantee that we will always be showing something different, original and special.
Defying common sense, Série Ímpar Solitário is born – an audacious red that asserts itself in an area renowned for the excellence of its white wines.
The grapes are bought from an old winegrower with whom Quinta da Romeira has worked for several decades. The vines are over 35 years old and are located at the highest altitude in the Bucelas region. This wine is a field-blend of traditional grape varieties from the Lisbon wine region and aged for 24 months in used French oak barrels. In order to be a DOC wine in the Bucelas region, it must be made 100% with white grapes. For this reason they decided that Solitário would be classified as a Table Wine.
