MARQUÊS DE BORBA Vinhas Velhas tº 2016 - Alentejo
Region: Alentejo (Borba).
Producer: João Portugal Ramos.
Grapes: Alicante Bouschet, Aragonez, Castelão, Syrah.
The Vinhas Velhas range, of limited edition, is the most recent of the Marquês de Borba brand and is produced from the oldest vines, planted around the family house, in the 80's, near the castle of Estremoz. In other words, this is a wine that comes from vineyards between 30 and 40 years of age.
After crushing, the grapes are trodden in marble presses for 4 to 5 days, and then transferred to stainless steel vats where the alcoholic fermentation is finished. Aging for 12 months in American and French oak barrels.
Intense garnet color, on the nose a great concentration of black fruits, eucalyptus leaf and some notes of spices from the barrel aging. Large volume in the mouth with velvety tannins.
Winemaker: João Portugal Ramos.
